Help Emza to come and perform on the Skip&Die release tour & Noorderslag!
January 2011 Skip&Die are releasing their first EP with the Dutch Boemklatsch label. Since one of the tracks on the EP is ‘Get Your Braai On’ featuring Emza, we think it is only logical if Emza is performing with them on the release tour. So we decided that if Emza with Skip&Die reaches the $2500 threshold before January 7th, Emza will be flown over for the occasion.
On top of that, Skip & Die and Emza will head into the studio to start working on the Africa Unsigned EP. We promise you, as a supporter, will receive a digital teaser of the tracks as soon as they are available.
Support $5 or more and receive a free download of Emza’s new single: Vulamehlo!
Supporters who invest $20 or more receive a free ticket to one of the shows!
We’ll contact you in due time to tell you on how to claim your free ticket.
Emza
“Mandoza, Trompies and Chiskop in general have always been my inspiration. You can’t think of kwaito without mentioning these guys. This is the kind of greatness I want to achieve” says Emza of his intentions.
Emza hails out of a small township called Malukazi just outside of Isiphingo in Durban. He started his career as a rapper and a dancer. After completing his matric at the age of 19, Emza was focused on making a name for himself in the music business. He teamed up with a few friends and formed a dance group. This soon evolved into a hip-hop group that made appearances all over Durban. While this looked all good, this young man had bigger dreams.
In 2008, Emza released his debut album titled “Nswelaboya” after being signed by Joburg based BLAQK Records. The album was a good foundation for the young man to make his mark in the tight SA music world. His first single “Weekend” rocked into the top 20 local charts and the video for the single received major airplay on Channel 0.
As if that was not enough, the single also helped Emza attract international attention with rotation in two UK radio stations. Emza was also featured on the UK based website kwaito.com, an international website focused on promoting SA music to Europe. Soon after that, Emza recorded his first international collaboration with Netherlands based group, Skip&Die. Locally, he has warmed stages for the likes of Theo Kgosinkwe, Kelly Khumalo, Mshoza, Teargas, Slikour and Rhythmic Elements.

Skip & Die
Skip & Die is a collaboration between the South African vocalist / visual artist Catarina Aimée Dahms (aka Cata.Pirata) and Dutch producer Jori Collignon (C-Mon & Kypski, Nobody Beats The Drum).
While traveling through South Africa’s Soweto, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Guguletu, they collaborated with some of SA’s most inspiring music-makers on the rise.
Their first album: a mix of electro and afro beats, portrays their experience of blazing sun, dusty roads, township shacks, cockroaches, skulls, bones and lovebirds (in Spanish, Portuguese, English, Afrikaans, Xhosa and Zulu) and is scheduled to be released this year.
