Mokoomba and Mafilika at Lake of Stars festival in Malawi
On the magical ,sunny shores of Lake Malawi this year’s Lake of Stars (LOS) takes place from the 15th till the 17th of October 2010.
Since its maiden festival in 2004 this annual event has despite several setbacks in the previous year’s grown to become one of Africa’s leading festivals with the event raising up to a 100,000 pounds each year directly benefiting the Malawian Economy whilst promoting Malawian art and tourism. Voted by the independent as one of the Top 20 Festivals in the world. The LOS is one not to be missed.
Combining local African Artists and International artists LOS aims to provide their audience with unique fusions of sounds that seem to come easily once they are brought together in this magical location.
Gracing this year’s festival as part of the amazing line up consisting of African and British stars areMafilika (Malawi) and Mokoomba ( Zimbabwe).
Mafilika a band with a mutual love for traditional Malawian music provide a funky tune due to their own individual styles and tastes ranging from rock, jazz , to roots and reggae.
All the way from Zimbabwe Mokoomba has been recognized for their musical uniqueness and has enjoyed several hits including “messe messe “which was a collobaration with well-known DJ Gregor Salto.
